In July 2020, as part of Operation Lady Justice, the Department of Interior established the first of seven teams dedicated to reviewing cold cases involving missing or murdered American Indian and Alaska Natives. The Cold Case teams are staffed by criminal investigators from Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services. Each team may include other partners, including Tribal law enforcement and the U.S. Department of Justice.
